Road Trip Pt. 6 - Cannon Beach, OR
We began the last week of our summer road trip by picking up our friend from PDX airport and driving up to our last oceanfront destination - Cannon Beach! Though we had already spent the last week on the coast, I was especially excited for this stop. Cannon Beach is probably one of the most popular beach destinations in the PNW, and we noticed there were zero vacancies at our hotel the whole time we were there. We opted to stay at Hallmark Resort since it was right on the beach and also closest to Haystack Rock. Our oceanfront room had the most stunning views during sunset and into the night.
I’d only been to Cannon Beach during the winter, so I was a little unprepared for how busy it is during peak summer! We ended up ordering takeout from Pelican Brewery across the street, and spent our first afternoon/night taking photos and enjoying dinner in our room as the sun set.
The next day, we decided to drive down to Manzanita Beach and get lunch at Kelly’s Brighton Marina. Located along Nehalem Bay, this spot is known for boating, crabbing, fishing, and they have the FRESHEST seafood ever! It was almost a little intimidating figuring out how to order, but I think we did a great job (if you ever go, definitely make sure to get your own crab because it was amazingly sweet and fresh).
On our last night, we walked around the downtown Cannon Beach area, got some ice cream, and picked up a few logs of firewood in anticipation of our last night’s bonfire - after all the fun we had at Newport Beach, we decided we had to recreate the bonfire on our last night! It was honestly the perfect way to end our time on the coast.
And with that, our time on the coast ended and we were onto our next stop: Portland, OR!
