Road Trip Pt. 5 - Salishan, OR

After saying goodbye to Newport, OR, we continued up the coast to our next stop - Salishan! It’s another small beach town about an hour up from Newport, so we knew we’d have a few hours to kill before we could check into our next location. After many days of not-so-healthy meals and minimal bodyweight workouts at the hotel, we felt like we needed something a bit lighter to cleanse the system haha. Salt, an artistic little cafe located in the midst of the Lincoln City Outlets was EXACTLY what we needed. Though finding parking ended up being more difficult that we imagined (LOTS of people are still lining up to shop at Hot Topic and Bath & Body Works on a Tuesday afternoon for some reason), we finally found a spot and got a pair of acai bowls to go before heading over to our hotel.

Our matching acai bowls! Loved the fresh mint and crunchy granola, and look how huge these blueberries are!

For our time in Salishan, we had the amazing opportunity to stay at Salishan Coastal Lodge, right next to Gleneden Beach (this was a sponsored stay in exchange for social media promotion and marketing content). The four star resort has so many different activities on-site, including complimentary bike rentals, an expansive golf course and driving range, and an aerial park, but our favorite parts of the hotel were definitely its outdoor fire pits and private beach access. Since we arrived a little before our room was ready, we opted to take the nature trail to the private beach, and let the dogs run off some of their energy on the beach. Afterwards, we stopped by Beachcrest Brewing on our walk back to the hotel for some cider - they had such a cute outdoor dog-friendly patio and it was the perfect way to kill some time before checking in.

Once we got our room keys and instructions to our room, we drove straight up to the part of the lodge where our room was located and parked right under the awning in front of the rooms. I’ll admit, we’d gotten pretty spoiled with our accommodations on this trip and Salishan was no exception. Comfy beds, a fireplace, and a private balcony with two rocking chairs overlooking the golf course - it was the coziest place to call home for a few days!

Being on the coast, of course we had to spend as much time as possible on the beach! The weather forecast called for rain the next couple days, so we took advantage of dry skies our first morning and packed a lunch from the downstairs cafe to take to the beach with us. I loved that the cafe also had a pretty big selection of local ciders, beers, kombuchas, and even lemonades (at least five different flavors!)

Unfortunately the forecast was correct and we had a constant drizzle the next couple days, so we opted to stay around the lodge and enjoy the comforts of our room. However, we still made the most of it and roasted some marshmallows for s’mores during the dry periods, and had lunch out on the covered area of the patio!

And with that, our time at Salishan came to an end and we continued onto our last stop along the OR Coast: Cannon Beach!
