Road Trip Pt. 6 - Cannon Beach, OR

We began the last week of our summer road trip by picking up our friend from PDX airport and driving up to our last oceanfront destination - Cannon Beach! Though we had already spent the last week on the coast, I was especially excited for this stop.

Road Trip Pt. 5 - Salishan, OR

After saying goodbye to Newport, OR, we continued up the coast to our next stop - Salishan! It’s another small beach town about an hour up from Newport, so we knew we’d have a few hours to kill before we could check into our next location. After many days of not-so-healthy meals and minimal bodyweight workouts at the hotel, we felt like we needed something a bit lighter to cleanse the system haha.

Road Trip Pt. 4 - Newport, OR

The day we checked out of our room in Bend was one of our most highly anticipated days for two reasons - first, it meant that we were beginning the OR Coast portion of our road trip and we were super excited to have some quality beach time with the dogs; second, and more importantly, it meant we were getting In n Out that day!!

Road Trip Pt. 3 - Bend, OR

The third stop of our road trip was a few hours south from White Salmon, and we arrived at our temporary home at LOGE Camps in Bend, OR in the afternoon, about an hour before check-in. We killed some time by visiting a nearby off-leash dog-friendly trail in the Deschutes National Forest (named ‘Good Dog Loop’ on the AllTrails app), and though it was dry and hot, the dogs had a blast cooling off in the river along the trail. The humans, however, were covered in many layers of sweat and dust by the time we got back to the lodge.

Road Trip Pt. 2 - White Salmon, WA

After a couple days in Leavenworth, we packed up and drove about four hours south down to the second stop of our road trip, White Salmon, WA! This quaint little town (population: 2,100) runs along the Columbia River and is only a short bridge ride away from Hood River and Mount Hood. While I had never heard of the town White Salmon prior to planning this trip, I was initially drawn to our Airbnb and its modern infrastructure / decor - when we arrived, it really didn’t disappoint!

Road Trip Pt. 1 - Leavenworth, WA

The first stop on our PNW road trip was Leavenworth! Fondly known as the “Bavarian Village” of Washington, this idyllic ski town is also beautiful in the summer and filled with wildflower trails and lively biergartens. After a short hike near Thorp mountain on the way over, we arrived at our cute A-Frame cabin, nicknamed Little Bear Cabin, and hosted by PNW Cascade Cabins

Planning a Dog-Friendly Trip

For those of you who found us initially through Instagram, and have been following us for awhile, you have probably noticed that Koda and I have been on our fair share of trips, both upstate and around the East Coast, as well as the PNW (where the rest of my family is based). We’ve been lucky enough to explore places from the Oregon Coast all the way to Acadia National Park in Maine. However, a huge dream of mine has always been to go for a long West Coast road trip, from San Diego all the way up to Banff, AB, and after many conversations around timing and bucket list hikes and the fact that both of our families are in LA and Seattle, a good friend and I finally decided to make this happen the summer of 2020.

That was maybe almost a year ago. Oh, how things have changed.

Five Dog-Friendly Places to Grab Food + Drinks in Brooklyn

If you have a dog (or multiple dogs), and you’re a dog parent like me where you plan your daily life around them, finding spots to eat with your dog around NYC can sometimes be pretty tough. Luckily, summer time means a lot of places will start offering outdoor seating, and some will even let you bring your furry friends as well. Here are a few of our favorite hangouts (around South Brooklyn, sorry Williamsburg) that are especially fun to visit with dogs
